Causes of Emotional and Psychological Trauma
- Everyday occurrences: like the death of a loved one, hospital surgery, relationship breakdown or deeply disturbing emotional experience.
- One-time events: such as an accident, injury, or a violent attack, even if it happened long ago in childhood.
- Ongoing, relentless stress: like battling a life-threatening illness or repeated traumatic events such as bullying, domestic violence, or childhood neglect.

EMDR Therapy can help
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy helps people quickly experience the psychotherapy benefits which had previously taken years to make a difference.
EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.
